I finished quilting the Dino Quilt – the above image is of the back. I stippled it, but I don’t think I pinned it enough – there seems to be a bit of shifting.
Onto binding and labelling.

I finished my sock. I cast off using Elizabeth Zimmerman’s sewn cast off, which worked a treat – I should have used this method on this – it might have stretched over their heads!
Elizabeth Zimmerman’s Sewn Cast Off
Cut your yarn so the tail is about three times as long as the knitting and thread it onto a blunt needle.
*Insert the needle into the first 2 stitches on the knitting needle as if to purl and draw the yarn through.
Reinsert the needle into the first stitch on the knitting needle as if to knit, draw the yarn through and slip the stitch off.*
Repeat from * to *.
You can find instructions for this method in Knitting Without Tears and I am sure there are a few youtube videos demonstrating it as well.
Now I just need to do the second sock.

I’ve started quilting. I’m stippling this one. I’m finding it physically quite challenging – manipulating all of the fabric and then bits fall of the table and drag on the needle. It is still probably the best part of the quilting process.

I’ve been pinning this quilt – took ages and I jabbed myself with pins more times than I care to remember. And in the end I didn’t make the backing big enough and I need to add another strip.
The first sock is practically complete. I just have to cast off – apparently there is a good method in Knitting Without Tears..

I finished the cushion for Miss P.
I was a bit disappointed with how the frill on the edges turned out. I should have sewn the zig zag bits from the front and used the seam joining the frill strips as a guide. Also, the pattern has two different dimensions for the back (one for the frill and one without), but as luck would have it I cut the back too small and then had to add bits. If I had read the instructions through completely this would have been obvious, but the second set of dimensions is only mentioned in one small spot (certainly not in the list of materials), which I think is poor form on the part of the patter writer. However, I do like how the frill is constructed.
I’ve finished the front of the dino cushion. The applifix worked really well and I will use it instead of vliesofix in the future.
For this applique I used normal machine cotton (last time I used embroidery thread), a blanket stitch (on my machine Mode 2, 35) and a width and length of 1.5mm.

I’m onto the leg! There’s a bit of a hole where I rejoined the heel to the instep, so I might need to do something else on sock two.
The pattern on the instep and leg is a cross stitch rib (see below)
Cross Stitch Rib – Multiples of 3 stitches
R1: *Skip 1st stitch, knit into second stitch, knit into skipped stitch and then slip both stitches off the needle, P1, repeat from * to end of round.
R2: *K2, P1, repeat from * to end of round
