Mod 9 Quilt

I’ve continued working on this quilt. I’ve sewn the squares into strips and now I’m sewing the strips into blocks.

To get the effect I want, accuracy is vital. So when I sew the strips together, I ensure the seams for each square are lined up and I press the seam allowance from one strip one way and on the second strip the opposite way.

It’s probably clearer in the second image.

Blackwork Butterfly

I subscribe to the Inspirations magazine and in issue 52 they had this blackwork butterfly by Tanja Berlin.

I like it and I would like to try to replicate it with machine embroidery (my hand embroidery is hopeless …).

Here’s part of a wing that I’ve been working on in Thred.

It still needs a bit of work and it will be quite a drawn out process (not as long as doing it by hand though)

And another wing …

I’ve also changed the angle of the fill slightly.

Advent Calendar – 8

I finished in time ….

I’ve also been putting little presents in the pockets as well – hair clips, stickers, lolly snakes …

I’m also making some christmas T-Shirts.

I didn’t stabilise this enough – see all of the puckers? And it took two hours to stitch out – with all of the thread changes and careful cutting of the applique fabric, but I think P will be happy with it.

Below is the one A picked – this is just an image from Embird.

I haven’t decided the fabric yet (which then determines the thread colours). I’ll use a layer of romeo in the hoop to try to eliminate the puckers.

All of the pockets are attached! I need to sew the buttons onto the tree and finish off the ornaments.

A pile of pockets ready to be sewn on and ornaments in a production line …

The ornaments are a machine embroidery design from here. They’ve used velvet as the base whereas I have used felt, so I’m not sure how to cut the edges away (they used a candle and melted the edges, but I’m not sure if that would work with felt). I’ve made 8 so only 16 to go … (I am feeling positive that I will get it done in time).

The binding is done …

This is the first time ever that the binding went on easily. I followed the instructions for a continuous binding from here.
