Back to working on my Mod 9 quilt. I’m about three quarters of the way through the quilting. I ran out of cotton thread…
I find the quilting quite physically demanding – I can only do about half an hour at a time.

My camera has gone on holiday so I can’t take any images – sorry.
Today I went to Spotlight and used my gift voucher (thanks Mum and Dad). I bought one of those bobbin winder things – it looks like this one here. Plus I bought more wool (I plan on making a blanket). It’s this stuff – in colour 4603. Plus a really long 5mm circular needle (I’m working on the theory that a blanket will have lots of stitches).

I’ve really been enjoying my knitting – there is something analytical but also creative about it. I decided it was time to get some resources. I wanted a Stitch Dictionary, but I couldn’t find such in my local book stores. Instead I bought How to Knit and The Best of Vogue Knitting.

The first is in two halves; techniques and then patterns. It also has a small stitch gallery at the end. I think it will be perfect for looking up things like all of the different types of increases and decreases.
The second is articles lifted straight from the Vogue Knitting magazine. It is split into thirteen sections and covers things from basics to expert finishing tips and tricks. The articles are written by a range of people from Elizabeth Zimmerman to Melanie Falick. I don’t think it is the type of book you read from start to finish, but just pick an interesting article and read it.

I finished Miss A’s pony …

and Miss P’s dinosaur

I’m a bit disappointed with the dinosaur – the pink I used for the outline it too pink.
The pony and the dinosaur designs come from here.
My plan is to add them to a T-Shirt tomorrow.

It was knitting last night at Woolly Lattes. I worked on my scarf – I think I did about eight rows – chatted to my friend and bought more sock wool (it’s Filatura Di Crosa – Maxime Print in shade 5062).

I’ve been working on the pony design all day (off and on). My machine informed me it would take 46 minutes, but that’s just sewing time and once you take into account trimming the applique fabric and changing the thread it takes much longer even if you’re doing nothing else – whereas I’ve had a few other jobs to do today as well.

Miss A wanted a Pony T-Shirt.
I’ve put it all together in Embird. The pony and flower are from Designs by Juju. The alphabet I use in the label is one of Embird’s alphabets (22 I think) and I make the satin stitched borders in Thred.

This is Miss P (who – of course – wanted a dinosaur).

The Dinosaur design is also from Designs by Juju.
I’m hoping to get them stitched out tomorrow – Miss A is back at school!

I finished A’s scarf – I’m really pleased with how the pattern turned out. I used a variagated yarn, so I didn’t expect the diagonal colour effect.
The yarn is Panda Magnum and the pattern is from here.

I bought Issue 7 of The Knitter magazine.

Here are some of the designs I like …

Damask Flower by Kaffe Fassett

Rosa Alba – Martin Storey. I don’t really like the rose neckline, but the cardigan itself is lovely.
