Continuing the sock saga

I’ve restarted my sock – it only took one attempt to cast on.

The Knitting Olympics – Disaster

My knitting has all gone horribly wrong – the cables were a complete mess. I’ve ripped the whole thing and I shall start again. This time round I’m going to use bamboo needles and I’m just going to knit a stocking stitch sock – the wool is so slippery I think anything else is beyond me.

The Knitting Olympics – Sock Progress

I’ve knitted the band of the sock – now I need to start on the cable pattern.

Scarf Knitting

scarf_r_3

As I needed a bit of a break from my spiral blanket, I’ve swapped back to my scarf knitting. It is a really easy pattern and being a scarf each row is finished quickly – perfect for knitting and watching a DVD.

Spiral Knitting

spiral2

I’ve been working on my spiral baby blanket. It is very relaxing (almost meditative) knitting. The colour is beautiful and the yarn (surprisingly) lovely with which to work.

While knitting I’ve been watching Emily of New Moon. I don’t think this was ever shown in Australia (I bought it from DVD Scene and they were fabulous – very quick service). I’ve only watched two episodes and I have to say it is very different from the novels. I do, however, like it. It’s very dark with quite adult themes – where did the beating of the little Indian boy come from? The scenery is spectacular and I’m hoping for some good interior domestic scenes.

Free Range Knitter – Stephanie Pearl – McPhee

I thought this book was hilarious – I can particularly sympathise with the challenging child stories. It motivated me enough to pick up my knitting needles again – not with much success.

Knitting Disasters!

I started knitting this blanket …

sunnybaby

From here. I wasn’t doing too badly – about 30 rows in – when disaster! On one row the pattern was out by two stitches! I tried to undo it to just below the mistake, but even more of a disaster, so the whole thing is unravelled and I’m wondering what to do next.

More Purchases

My camera has gone on holiday so I can’t take any images – sorry.

Today I went to Spotlight and used my gift voucher (thanks Mum and Dad). I bought one of those bobbin winder things – it looks like this one here. Plus I bought more wool (I plan on making a blanket). It’s this stuff – in colour 4603. Plus a really long 5mm circular needle (I’m working on the theory that a blanket will have lots of stitches).

Knitting Night

scarf_r_2

It was knitting last night at Woolly Lattes. I worked on my scarf – I think I did about eight rows – chatted to my friend and bought more sock wool (it’s Filatura Di Crosa – Maxime Print in shade 5062).

Scarf Update

scarf_a_progress

I’ve been working away on Miss A’s scarf. The pattern in the yarn is quite extraordinary and unexpected.

The yarn is Panda Magnum (8ply) and the pattern is from here.

I bought a copy of The Knitter magazine – it is beautiful, high production values and lovely (although I imagine tricky) patterns.

I’ve decided to try this one …

rhapsody_1

It is ‘Rhapsody’ by Jean Moss (it’s in Issue 6)  I bought the yarn – Sublime Cashmere Merino Silk DK in fuschia from here (they have an amazing range of wool but their customer service is poor).
