I finished my Mod 9 quilt, which was started in August 2008.
Here is the back…

I’m reasonably happy with it. My cutting wasn’t fabulous and I was a bit disappointed with my free motion quilting – I should have used white thread instead of purple and I still need to practise more so that the stitches are the same size.
I’m going to use it as a wall hanging so it was probably a bit pointless to piece the back.

My plan for 2010 is to consume less. So to make that happen I’m not going to buy any fabric this year or knitting yarn. I don’t have a stash of quilt wadding, so I’ll still need to buy that and the thread for quilting.
I’m also not going to buy any more craft books. I subscribe to the Inspirations magazine and I think I’ll continue to buy The Knitter magazine.
I’m also going to keep a record of my craft spending – it’s easy to get carried away particularly when I read other peoples blogs and covet stuff.
By the end of the year I want to have finished

This seemed like such an easy project – just go around in circles until it is big enough. I cast on about 10 times!
The pattern is from here – although I couldn’t manage the yarn over increases and swapped to knitting into the front and back of the stitch.
The yarn is a Panda Magnum Soft 8 ply (in colour 4603). I wanted something machine washable.
I’ve just switched to a circular needle and I decided to splurge a little bit and buy one of these – everything flows much better.

I’ve been working on patchwork cards …

I foundation piece the cards using my embroidery machine – I’m happy to share the designs.

I thought this book was hilarious – I can particularly sympathise with the challenging child stories. It motivated me enough to pick up my knitting needles again – not with much success.

I started knitting this blanket …

From here. I wasn’t doing too badly – about 30 rows in – when disaster! On one row the pattern was out by two stitches! I tried to undo it to just below the mistake, but even more of a disaster, so the whole thing is unravelled and I’m wondering what to do next.
