A Finished Object!

SewWitty's Finished Object

SewWitty’s Finished Object

I finished something! Technically it was pretty much finished last year I just had to block it and add buttons.

Finished_2

I cast off around the neck too tightly and it is a bit gathered (and it looks a bit odd when it is on and buttoned).

I did find a nice stretchy cast off for the arms (although I did a purl version). The pattern is from here and the yarn is Jo Sharp Desert Aran cotton (in parakeet). I can’t say I liked the yarn the ends kept fraying and ball kept tangling and falling apart.

Sock Knitting

SewWitty's Sock

SewWitty’s Sock

I have written a sock pattern. I wanted to try something different. It has an interesting cuff (not my normal k2p2 rib), I am going to attempt a band heel and I am trying a different toe style.

Check out my new signature art double points – they are fabulous – there is no going back.

The yarn is from Bendigo part of the sock yarn range. I’m in love and it is only $10 a ball!

More Knitterly Progress

Almost Finished

Almost Finished

I just have to cast off the bottom edge of the cardigan and knit the sleeves (the sleeves are going to be cap sleeves). I don’t have the right needles for the sleeves, but I have ordered some from here.

My next plan is socks – with this yarn – I am just trying to come up with a stitch pattern.

Knitterly Progress

Progress_02

Cardigan Progress

Progress is being made on this cardigan. I just have to finish of the bottom edging  (I have decided on lace) and knit the sleeves (which will be cap sleeves).

The plastic bag in the image is what I am using to stop the yarn from tangling – very hi tech!

Finished the Owl Socks

Finished the Owl Socks

Socks are finished. They have already been worn.

Now for a new project. I started this swatch …

Swatch_Sm

but I can’t get guage, so I have abandoned that idea and now I am working on this…

Ravelry Yarn Stash

I store my yarn in various different places around the house and I decided it was time to get organised.

I spent a bit of time on the weekend taking photos of my stash and uploading it to Ravelry.

Some of the yarn I had forgotten I had! Like this …

Forgotten Yarn

Forgotten Yarn

I have two skeins so I can make socks.

What I think I will find the most useful is the Needle & Hook chart. I am forever buying new needles just in case, but now I shall be able to refer to my Ravelry page and see whether I have the correct needle size already.

Now I just need to do some knitting.

Second Sockitis

Second Sock Progress

Second Sock Progress

I have finished the first sock!

I am slowly making my way through the second sock – there are so many other things I want to be doing.

I have been watching a few DVDs though – while I am making slow progress. I have re-watched the 1995 Pride and Prejudice (the one with Colin Firth) and I have just started watching the first season of The Newsroom, I really enjoy it, but does anyone else think they talk super fast?

A Pair of Socks!

Two Socks!

Two Socks!

I have been away to here …

I was in Paris!

I was in Paris!

IMAG0477

Glastonbury Abbey

We spent all of July travelling – Paris, London, Bath, Cornwall and Hong Kong! We had a fabulous time. The weather was amazing – three weeks in England and only 1 day of rain!

I did take my knitting with me and did little bits here and there and finally finished the second sock at home.

The patten is Almondine from Sock Knitting Master Class and I used a Madelinetosh sock yarn (I think it’s Jade), which I got from here.

I have never been a fan of knitting charts – not that I have done much knitting that requires a chart – but this pattern has converted me. It was much easier to glance at the chart for instructions that to read the various Ps and YOs.

My next knitting project is another pair of socks for Miss P using this yarn. I’m going to make up my own pattern, but I plan on having owl cables like these (I was so disappointed that this jumper didn’t fit either of my girls).

One Almondine Sock is Finished

Almondine_Sock_2

I finished a sock!

This is the Almondine Sock from Sock Knitting Masterclass – the pattern was quite easy to memorise and I (mostly) got it right. The yarn is Madelinetosh sock in Jade. It was lovely to work with – definitely recommend it.

Now, I just need to get the second sock finished.

Sample Socks Finished

Two at a Time Sample Socks

Two at a Time Sample Socks

I finished my sample two at a time socks. It was easy. I am not sure how much harder a complicated stitch pattern would make things, but I am going to give it a go.

I’m currently swatching this yarn. I did have to make a ball from a skein, but it wasn’t as difficult as I thought it would be.

While knitting I have been watching the third season of Castle – doesn’t distract from the knitting.

I do like this series – it is fun and easy to watch.
