Progress on the knittting

I’ve been working on my all-in-one top. I’m at the point when I start knitting the sleeves.

The pattern so far (from here) has been really easy to follow – just round and round with a purl round every 10th time. I do have to say that stitch markers have made the whole process a bit quicker – I don’t have to think about the starting point.

I’m slightly concerned about the sleeves. I think I understand how it is all going to go together (I could be wrong of course), but I want the pattern on the body to flow into the pattern on the sleeves – this might require some thought.

More Progress

Slowly working away on my knitting. I’m intrigued by knitting in the round and I’m quite keen to try a big person version. Maybe something like this or this (although this my be beyond my current ability).

Progress

I’m enjoying knitting this top – the pattern is very easy to remember (mindless really it’s 9 rows knit and one purl) and the yarn is lovely (it’s a Jo Sharp Silk, Alpaca, Merino mix).

Progress…

It’s a very grim day here – suits my mood. I’m struggling today. I’ve let myself be caught up in things, which I should know to avoid.

I’ve continued on this top (for one of my girls – whichever one it fits). It’s a very simple pattern – although the sleeves might prove to be a bit tricky. At the moment it’s a 10 round repeat – 9 of knit and 1 of purl.

I have learnt that to achieve garter stitch in the round you need to alternate between knit and purl, i.e. one round knit, one round purl – fascinating.

I’ve started the top – so far so good.

Spiral Blanket (Again)

I’m quite keen to be knitting, but as I haven’t picked up the 6mm circular needles I need for this project, I’ve resurrected my spiral baby blanket. The baby this blanket was intended for is now about 5 months old, but I know more pregnant people so there is a chance I will get it finished before the next baby arrives.

It takes me about half an hour to do two rounds …

Tension Square is Done

I’ve made a tension square (for this project) – it took three attempts. I started with 4mm needles, then 5mm and finally achieved gauge with 6mm needles. I’m using a lighter yarn than the pattern calls for, but Jo Sharp told me she was experimenting with this idea.

Plans and Projects

I need a new knitting project – I’ve run into a bit of a road block on my scarf (I’m just over it).

I wanted to make my girls a knitted top that they can wear in summer (and winter with a long sleeved shirt underneath). I searched ravelry and found the one above – it’s from Pickles. What an amazing world where I can find a pattern in Norway, buy it and have it instantly.

I’m going to knit it in one colour. This colour (Jo Sharp Alpaca Silk Georgette in Peony)

I need to knit the tension square and then find the right size circular needle.

Socks are Finished

I finally finished these socks.  I started them for the Winter Olympics, but it all went horribly wrong, and then I was distracted by other projects.

I can’t say that I’m that pleased with them – for one thing they’re different and they’re a bit saggy.

Miss P’s Scarf is Finished

I finished Miss P’s Scarf. It was a very fast knit – chunky wool and big needles!

It has made me feel more confident about cables.

I can’t say that she is that taken with it but in the interests of fairness I have now knitted a scarf for Miss A and Miss P. Now I just need to finish mine.
