Alphabet Quilt
I’ve started a new project – an alphabet sampler quilt. The alphabet sunbonnet designs are from here. The fabric for the applique is from here.
Each of the alphabet blocks will be 15cm by 15cm – once they’re all made I’ll think about borders etc.
In case you’re interested, I used Robinson Anton Rayon embroidery thread, the base fabric is white homespun and I’ve stabilised with calico (I bought a roll from Spotlight)
I will finish the mod 9 quilt I just need a bit of time when Misses A and P aren’t around, so I can lay it out and pin it.

Machine Embroidery – Multi Hooping – I Did It!
I have an embroidery sewing machine. It’s largest hoop is 200mm by 140mm (not including the gigahoop). I’ve always wanted to embroider a larger area and finally I did. I used Embird (to create the design and print the template) and a clothsetter (to place the fabric accurately in the hoop).
I made a birth sampler for Miss A (I removed her name and birth date from the above image for obvious reasons). It measures 35cm by 35cm and took 7 hoopings.
I will write a tutorial about my method (because I searched and couldn’t find anything particularly helpful).

Another Applique
Another T-Shirt.
Here is a close up of the front …
I put a dragonfly on the back…
It is for a little boy in P’s class. Both the frog and dragonfly are from here and the patchwork Pictureframe I digitised myself and you can download it from here.

Easter T-Shirts
I’ve made the girls Easter T-Shirts. The above is the front of A’s and below is the back.
The Sunbonnet Sue is from here and the flower from here. I didn’t stabilise enough, so the fabric is a bit puckered on the Sunbonnet. I attached the embroideries to the T-Shirt using a small zigzag stitch and Sulky Invisible thread in the needle. This did involve lowering the needle tension quite a bit, but I’m happy with how it turned out.
This is the front of P’s
And the back …
The designs are from the same place.

Second Anniversary and a Give Away
Today is my second blog anniversary! When I started I thought it would be good to keep a record of my craft activities and it has been useful – a couple of times I’ve looked back to see how I did something.
I also thought it might help me to focus my energies, but it hasn’t. I still have heaps of unfinished projects. I start something and then get distracted by something else.
The image above (because I think all posts need an image) is another T-Shirt applique. I used my embroidery machine to foundation piece the quilt block.
To celebrate my second anniversary, I’m going to give away one of my T-Shirts (like this one, or these or the russian doll or maybe a dinosaur or sunbonnet sue or maybe just a name). Anyway, to be in the running for one of my childrens’ T-Shirts leave a comment by Friday the 20th at midnight (Perth Australia time – GMT + 9)
