I finished! It is my blue jean wrap.
This was a lovely pattern – easy to remember and quite relaxing. I used a Jo Sharp Aran cotton (I don’t knot the colour – it was unlabelled).
Now I plan on knitting socks – pattern yet to be decided.

So every now and then I have been working on my Blue Jean Wrap – It has an easy to remember 12 stitch repeat lace pattern. I have found it to be the perfect pattern to work on late in the evening (when my brain has stopped working.
I am using an Aran Cotton from Jo Sharp, which has been surprisingly easy to use – I had all sorts of trouble when I used this yarn for a cardigan for Miss P.

I have started knitting Blue Jean Wrap – I was looking for something simple to knit while watching television – or when my brain is too tired to do anything else. So far so good, it has an easy to remember lace sequence and once I managed to cast on the right number it has been plain sailing!
The yarn is an aran cotton from Jo Sharp – I bought it unlabelled, so can’t tell you the official colour, it was in my stash, so I feel quite smug about using something I already had.

I finished the second of my Rose Rib socks – it didn’t go so well as the first.
I am not sure what went wrong, but when I picked up stitches after turning the heel I picked up 10 on one side and 14 on the other – that can’t be good. I fudged a bit and it seemed to work out in the end.
Check out the Sock Patterns page for the pattern.

I’ve started on the second sock. I had real trouble with the cuff – started it at least three times. I don’t recall it being this tricky the first time round. I’m on to the leg, so I hope the rest will be a breeze.

From this …
To this …
I’m going backwards! I dropped a stitch and it just got worse and worse – I just could not fix the hole. In the end I decided to start again!
Elizabeth Zimmerman told us to “Knit on with confidence and hope, through all crises” and that is what I have been trying to do – there has been some strange goings on with my oldest daughter, her friends and her friends’ mothers, but enough of that let us return to the knitting!
This is my Rose Rib sock. I wanted to do something different with this sock. It has no cuff, a band heel and a different toe (no kitchener stitch!). It has come together well and fits well – now for sock number two! (I have started it …)

I wanted something simple to knit that didn’t require much thought. Dovegreyreader wrote about this pattern and I thought that sounds like something I could do. So I popped over to Ravelry and purchased the pattern – it’s here. So far so good! The yarn I am using is my Misti Alpaca Pima Cotton and Silk Hand Paint (in the Confetti colourway)- I hope I have enough, but this is more about the process than the finished product.
I have been knitting away (while watching Once – fudging a bit of the lace as required) and I have turned the heel and am onto the gusset.
As I wanted to try different techniques with this sock, I have attempted a Band Heel. So far everything seems to be going to plan. I wrote myself instructions following this Knitty article.
I’m really enjoying my signature arts needles.

I like stories of all different kinds – novels, plays, movies, TV series – I suspect it is because I am nosy and like to know how people live. This means I usually watch something while knitting, which sometimes means my lace pattern can go a bit awry. At the moment I’m watching the second series of Once Upon the Time. I do like this show mostly because it is so beautiful to look at the costumes are spectacular ….
and I could quite happily move into Mary Margaret’s apartment.
The show itself is an interesting mix of fairy tales, swashbuckling adventure and good versus evil – and the villains are a bit conflicted, so I find it quite compelling.
All this means I look for excuses to watch it and therefore to knit. I should really be cleaning the house/buying food, but I will just watch one more episode! Besides some of the knits on the show are quite inspirational.
