I have finished one Christmas sock, which I started sometime in December (didn’t write down the date I started).
It’s a short sock, just a cuff and foot and I tried to make the cuff a bit more interesting using a twisted stitch.

This year I concentrated (almost exclusively) on Miss A’s blanket. So, apart from that, I really didn’t finish much.
One pair of socks, a chicken (and a duck), and I worked on A’s quilt and my halloween cross stitch.
Next year I will be working on Miss P’s blanket, so once again not much will get done.
We went to Rottnest for a few days, and I took a little cross stitch away with me
14 count Aida done in the hand. And it reinvigorated my love of cross stitch, so I have been working on my Halloween Cat (by Satsuma Street).
Miss P turns 18 in early 2023, so I have started her blanket. It’s the same as Miss A’s but in purple shades.
The last is my Christmas sock, which is going to be short – for wearing in summer. It was 44 degrees yesterday (that’s 112.2 for you Fahrenheit people), so you can see why I need short socks. The yarn is Poinsettia from Daffodil Road Yarn. I bought it last year, but I imagine they do something similar every year.
I have tried to do an interesting rib – I used Gaughan’s Twisted Stitch Source Book and did a K2P2 rib, but the K2 has a right twist every second round. I think it is very effective.

The yarn for Miss P’s blanket hasn’t arrived yet and I finished my socks, so I needed a new project. I remembered I bought the yarn last year for these little toys. The pattern is from Esther Joy Knits – called Fowl Friends.
The first one was definitely a learning opportunity and there are some things I will change next time.
I am knitting the duck now, each one takes about 6 hours from start to finish.

After the marathon that was Miss A’s blanket, I finally finished something else – socks!
It’s a plain vanilla sock – cuff down. The yarn is from Louie and Lola – I am not sure how well it will hold up, but it is beautiful.

A year in the making I finally finished my Log Cabin Moderne Blanket for Miss A.
It’s double bed size.
I finished it on the 31st Of October 2021 – started in November 2020
Miss P wants the same, but in purple. I have ordered the yarn, but the white is on back order at Bendigo. The other colours have been sent, but haven’t arrived yet. Once they arrive, I will think about re-jigging the colour scheme.

I have taken a little break from Miss A’s blanket. We went away for the school holidays and it was a bit heavy to take with me, so I dug out this sock (I started it back in November 2020). And since November I have ripped it back and started a plain sock (I wanted something super easy).
Since this photo, I have turned the heel and I am now working on the foot. It’s very satisfying to see some progress.
The yarn is beautiful, it’s from Louie and Lola and is Merino, Silk and Yak in the dusty rose colour way. I’m using 2.25mm needles.

I am working on the borders. I started with a long side. I am going to run out of yarn though, so I have ordered another ball. The dye lot will be different, so I thought I would do the two shorter sides in the new yarn and if there is an obvious difference it might look planned.
The yarn company (Bendigo Woollen Mills) is super busy (all those people knitting in lock down), so it might take a while to get to me.
If I finish the second long border and the new yarn hasn’t arrived, I can always weave the ends in.

I am still working on Miss A’s blanket – her birthday has come and gone and still I am knitting. This is the only thing I am working on right now. I am onto the last two squares (knit simultaneously with an intarsia twist in the middle). Then there is the border to work on.

When learning something new I like to consult a lot of resources – books, youtube and pinterest. So there has been much vewing, but not a lot of actual weaving.
Once I go to the weaving, as opposed to the warping, things moved much faster. I have had trouble with tension, the width changes in different places, and there are a few lumpy bits, but I feel everything will improve with practice.
