It was time for a change. I’ve updated WordPress and changed the theme. The image in the banner is the fabric from my Mod 9 quit.

Free Machine Embroidery Design – Foundation Pieced Pictureframe block

I made this block using my embroidery machine – there are instructions on this page on how to use an embroidery machine for foundation piecing. Here is the design – it’s free to use, but don’t sell the design.

NOTE: The font is not included in the download just the quilt block. Also, it is in jef (janome) format. I’m happy to provide other formats just let me know what you need.

The Cardigan is Finished

It’s finished! I used ladder stitch to sew it together (instructions from this book) and I sewed the buttons on using cotton thread. It came together quite easily (I was pleasantly surprised).

I plan to make another one in a bigger size and using Moss Stitch instead of Garter Stitch.

Advent Calendar – 8

I finished in time ….

I’ve also been putting little presents in the pockets as well – hair clips, stickers, lolly snakes …

I’m also making some christmas T-Shirts.

I didn’t stabilise this enough – see all of the puckers? And it took two hours to stitch out – with all of the thread changes and careful cutting of the applique fabric, but I think P will be happy with it.

Below is the one A picked – this is just an image from Embird.

I haven’t decided the fabric yet (which then determines the thread colours). I’ll use a layer of romeo in the hoop to try to eliminate the puckers.

This is the first time ever that the binding went on easily. I followed the instructions for a continuous binding from here.

Sewing Squares Together

I’ve started sewing the squares together for my Mod 9 quilt.

and

I’m not sure if I’m sewing it together in the most efficient manner, but this way I can keep on top of which square belongs where.

More Sock Knitting

I tried to knit these socks, but decided that as a lace pattern is completely lost on self patterning yarn, it wasn’t worth all of the effort (and stress). I then thought I would knit a plain sock using the same yarn, but could not get things to go right – I started about six times.

I decided I needed a break from that yarn, I wanted to use bigger needles, so I’m using this yarn …

Here is the progress so far …

I’m using 4 mm needles and I cast on 40 stitches. I’m planning on using a diagonal rib pattern.
