Tote Bag

The embroidery might be a bit too subtle.

I used pink cotton canvas, wild flowers design (from Urban Threads), cut-away stabiliser, and I lined it with a pillow case from IKEA.

Cards – Machine Embroidery

I have enjoyed having my embroidery machine set up. I have been embroidering on Heavy Cartridge paper – it works well.

I am using a medium weight cut away stabiliser, a sharp needle, bobbin thread and Robinson Anton rayon embroidery thread.

I am also using a bone folder to fold the cards (a game changer).

The design is from Urban Threads

Machine Embroidery

Now that the school year has finished, I can set my embroidery machine up in the study and get some patterns stitched out.

I bought some tote bags – $4 from Kmart, unpicked a side, added embroidery, and then sewed them back together.

All of the designs are from Urban Threads. I used a medium weight cutaway stabiliser (two sheets for the dragon) and floated the bag. Threads are Robinson Anton rayon and I slowed my machine down (I used bobbin thread as well).

I have used the Pi design before, but the other two were new. The dragon design is very dense and I think I prefer a lighter stitch out.

I want to try embroidering on card stock next.

Term 4 Stitching Project

This term I have returned to counted work and I am making a band sampler.

I started with the Wessex Flowers, which are going to be in the middle and I am going to work bands either side.

A closer view

I am using congress cloth (25 count), silk threads (from Beautiful Stitches) and metallic threads (Treasure Braid).

My Lady’s Quaker is Framed

My Lady’s Quaker – Jardin Privé

This is the third piece that I have framed (and the last for a while – I need to finish something).

I finished this in August 2019. I always intended to frame it, but I don`t have a reliable local framer, so it languished, but now I can frame things myself.

I used a frame from Rinkits, foam core board, batting and I laced the back. This frame has quite a bit of depth to it, and I think next time I would go something thinner.

Gum Nuts (Third Term Stitching Project) Framed

Let the lacing begin

I have framed my Gum Nuts stitching.

I used 6mm foam core board. I glued a thin batting to the board, pinned the embroidery and then laced it.

It was hard to take a photo of the finished product because the frame has glass in it. The frame is from Rinkits.

Home Sweet Home Progress

Progress on my Home Sweet Home Sampler

Now that my stitching class has finished (it starts again in a few weeks), I have been working on this sampler. I feel like I have done a lot, but there is still a long way to go.

Here’s is what it will look like

I will change the date to 2024 (or 2025).

I amusing 40 count linen and a au ver à soie silk (100.3). I thought I would find the 40 count tricky, but with my sewing glasses and magnifier I am fine.

Here I am working on it at our holiday accommodation (we don`t own a glass table)

I framed something!

I framed my Dame Nature Du Printemps.

I used 3mm foam core board, attached thin batting to the board, pinned and then laced the stitching. And the frame is from Rinkits.com.au – one of the shadow box frames (that way the cross stitch is not touching the glass).

Now I plan to frame My Lady’s Quaker and my Gum Nuts.

New Project

I have always liked this blackwork piece, so I decided (finally) that I needed to do it.

It’s Covid Corvid from Jen Goodwin Embroidery.

It’s a beautiful kit.

The instructions look amazing.

Third Term Stitching is Finished

I finished my third term stitching project – I might have got a bit carried away with the sequins.

The design is by Tania Cohen.

This was a lovely design to work, just the right amount of stitches to keep you interested, but not enough to feel that you were never going to finish this piece.
