Schoolgirl Sewing Club

The third installment of the Schoolgirl Sewing Club has arrived (have I started any of them? no) These are beautifully packaged.

I might need to do an inventory and see how many projects I have!

Dorset Buttons

Dorset Buttons

This term at Tresillian we have been working on Dorset Buttons. I am finding them to be addictive, I have made four altogether. The two above are probably my best ones.

I am using 3.8cm metal rings (from Spotlight) and pearl cotton (some 8 and some 5) and beads.

New Hoop Stand

New Embroidery Stand

I am an eternal optimist and I believe the perfect embroidery set up is out there.

I bought this Nurge one.

I have set it up and used it once. So far I have no complaints; nothing has annoyed me yet.

I like how I can use my Halo Go like this

We will see – I have been disappointed before.

I am working on my January poem for Tender Whispers from the Heart.

Candle Lantern

I made a machine embroidered lantern. This one from Urban Threads.

It’s white, but the LED light is yellow.

Goldwork Embroidery

Goldwork Gum Nut (Pattern by Tania Cohen)

I finished my Goldwork piece. I enjoyed the process – it is precise and sparkly (two things that I love).

I have ordered a frame and I will put it near my other gumnut piece.

Wild Woman

Wild Woman

At my Friday stitching group we have been working on ‘wild woman’ brooches.

My aim was to get as much stuff on it as possible; beads, buttons, yarn and charms.

The base fabric is felt, and we stabilised it with buckram.

Gold Work Gum Nut Progress

I am part of the Embroiders’ Guild of WA and I am in a group, which meets once a week. Tania Cohen has come for the last four weeks to teach us Gold Work.

I still have a bit to do, the chipping in particular. I am loving it.

Floral Fancies

Rebecca Devaney of Textile Tours of Paris had a sale (everything is always beautifully packaged). And I can’t resist pretty fabric and silk threads. Yet another project to add to the enormous list.

More Purchases

Rebecca Devaney from Textile Tours of Paris had a sale. And I couldn’t resist more antique French tea towels and au ver à soie silk threads (I have quite a collection of them now).

As always, it came beautifully packaged (it even smells nice) with a little gift (the blue checked fabric is a little bag).

School Girl Stitching Club Project 2

Project 2 from the School Girl Stitching Club (From the Crewel Gobelin) has arrived.

Have I done anything with project 1? No, I have not. These samplers are beautiful and they come beautifully packaged with lovely materials.

This one has, in addition, a little project we can work on, with all of the finishing materials.
