T-Towel Apron

I was motivated by the team at SewMamaSew! to attempt an apron from a tea towel. It is part of their 30 Days of Gifts to Sew.

The original idea for the apron is from Randi (i have to say ) – there is a tutorial and everything.

As the T-Towel is enormous (it’s one from Ikea), this is more of an adult apron. I used my bias maker for the first time to make double fold bias tape…

Once I worked out how to use it, I was really pleased with the results – no more bought binding for me.

Summer Shirt – Part 2

SewWitty Summer Top

I finished the summer top. I’m pretty pleased with how it turned  out – the sleeves are a bit dodgy and next time I would make my own bias binding rather than using a shop bought version.

Summer Shirt

I’ve been trying to buy my girls summer tops. I want them to be cool and to keep them covered (to avoid sunburn). I couldn’t find any in the shops, so I decided to make my own. I selected the Newlook pattern (6526). Although I’m going to make version A with the sleeves from B (but no ruffle on the end).

I haven’t sewn clothes for a long time and it took me forever to lay the pattern on the fabric and get the grain right. So far it is going OK.

Summer Shirt Under Construction

I bought lilac bias binding for the neck edge and bow. I thought that I would have a matching cotton thread in my stash, but no. So I’ve had to stop – I hope my motivation doesn’t disappear before I get lilac thread!
