These things are addictive. I had visions of making a lemon tree.
This is the first time I have tried two colours on the ring – my joins aren’t great.

This term at Tresillian we have been working on Dorset Buttons. I am finding them to be addictive, I have made four altogether. The two above are probably my best ones.
I am using 3.8cm metal rings (from Spotlight) and pearl cotton (some 8 and some 5) and beads.

I finished my Goldwork piece. I enjoyed the process – it is precise and sparkly (two things that I love).
I have ordered a frame and I will put it near my other gumnut piece.

At my Friday stitching group we have been working on ‘wild woman’ brooches.
My aim was to get as much stuff on it as possible; beads, buttons, yarn and charms.
The base fabric is felt, and we stabilised it with buckram.

I am part of the Embroiders’ Guild of WA and I am in a group, which meets once a week. Tania Cohen has come for the last four weeks to teach us Gold Work.
I still have a bit to do, the chipping in particular. I am loving it.

I saw this broach here, and had to have it.
It came quickly (UK to Australia) and was beautifully packaged.
I do like a beautiful kit – probably very shallow of me. I have gotten a bit carried away this year and I have bought several kits (and I think The Schoolgirl Sewing Club has four projects), not to mention the SALs I joined digitally. I have enough to keep me busy for several lifetimes. I am doing a bit of a rotation, but I am not sure I have found the best approach yet.

For my in-person stitching class, we were asked to make name tags. And the lovely teacher, Barbara, suggested a 3D element. There butterflies and dragonflies, but I chose a flower.
The petals are edged with floristry wire, which I then covered in blanket stitch using one strand of DMC cotton.
The centre of the flower is a french knot slip. On another piece of fabric, I draw a circle and covered it in french knots – using Pearl Cotton 8 in two colours. I stitched a running stitch around the circle, stuff it and pulled it tight. And then attached it to the background – (I added the petals after).
My name is stem stitch using pearl cotton 5, and outlined it using a metallic thread.
Feather stitch, stem or vine and a chain stitch border.
I have laced it to a piece of card.

Miss A is a fan of formula one (weird) and very much a Mclaren fan girl. We bought a hoody (well two, in case one got stuffed up) and found a machine embroidery pattern from here.
I used two sheets of cutaway no show mesh, which I hooped, and I floated the hoody. I should have used a topper because some of the stitches did sink into the fabric.

I am a bit of a magpie, I like shiny things. I can never resist the Treasure Boxes from L’Uccello. They are beautifully presented (it’s like getting a present in the mail).
This is my third box and I really need to use them in a project.

My stitching class at Tresillian has recommenced. We have a new teacher this term – Tania Cohen.
We are working on a crewel work piece – it’s going to be a gum nut. So far so good – I have even managed to get my homework done.
