It’s finished! I used ladder stitch to sew it together (instructions from this book) and I sewed the buttons on using cotton thread. It came together quite easily (I was pleasantly surprised).
I plan to make another one in a bigger size and using Moss Stitch instead of Garter Stitch.

I’ve been watching The Barchester Chronicles.. It stars a very young Alan Rickman (as well as many other familiar faces). It’s lovely to watch – the costume and design are fabulous. It doesn’t seem as vibrant as modern period dramas, but that might have something to do with the quality of the recording (video tape maybe). [...]

I’ve been using my limited craft time to knit. I’ve moved on from socks to a very simple cardigan. It’s knit on one piece – except for the collar – and then the side seams and sleeves are sewn together.

I’ve also bought more wool. Sirdar Bigga in Damson Mist.
